Pass 5: Checking group summary information Pass 1: Checking inodes, blocks, and sizes The physical size of the device is 178654645 blocksĮither the superblock or the partition table is likely to be corrupt! The filesystem size (according to the superblock) is 178654646 blocks I tried e2fsck and resize2fs as suggested here but it didn't help: ~# e2fsck -f /dev/sdb2 EXT4-fs (sdb2): bad geometry: block count 178654646 exceeds size of device (178654645 blocks) Mount: /mnt: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb2, missing codepage or helper program, or other error. I've now put it into an external USB drive caddy and trying to mount it but it fails, the geometry seems to be off by 1 block: ~# mount -oro /dev/sdb2 /mnt/ I've got a HDD disk that was sitting on a shelf for a long time (since 2015?).
